At Waoo, the Head of Business Development & Innovation was faced with the challenge of finding a way to bring innovative ideas to life. Despite investing in new ideas, Waoo was unable to get anything through their investment criteria due to too many gut feeling opinions in the leadership and a long innovation cycle of +9 months from initial idea to investment board decision.
To overcome this, Waoo decided to partner with PipeGrade, a company specializing in helping businesses validate and bring innovative ideas to market. With PipeGrade's help, Waoo was able to test their ideas in just 7 days and gather clear results and data points on which ideas to further investigate.
The testing process consisted of 14 days, with 7 days dedicated to building the concept, including a landing page, Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), and marketing materials. The remaining 7 days were dedicated to testing the idea in the market.
As a result of this partnership, Waoo and PipeGrade developed an innovation program where they tested 2-3 ideas per quarter. This program resulted in two concepts being rolled out into operation over the past 12 months – one radical and one incremental on top of the existing business.
